More about It goes up or down whether you come or go; up for the one who goes and down for the one who comes
The work, whose title is a quote from Pedro Paramo by Juan Rulfo, questions the surrounding representations of the archaeological object. At the same time, it generates a review of the history of Mexican anthropology from the appropriation of contemporary museological strategies, such as the audio guide. This set of seven lithographs illustrates the process of moving the monolith Coatlinchan attributed to Tláloc for decades, to its current location at the National Museum of Anthropology in 1964. During the exhibition of these lithographs in antique shops in Amsterdam, a serie of sound recordings were developed to tell stories about the marketing Mesoamerican archaeological objects. The audio guide that accompanies the piece, tells disputes over the identity of the Coatlinchan monolith, its archaeological, negotiations with the villagers and the conditions of its complex transfer.
