More about 430 People paid 30 Soles per Hour

This is a version of the piece produced in Mexico City’s Museo Rufino Tamayo in 1999. Here, the Galería Pancho Fierro, dependent on Lima City Council, was filled with women, leaving a one-meter aisle for spectators. Unlike the Mexican work, the women looked directly at the public. They were paid approximately $8 or 30 new Peruvian soles for four hours’ work. The piece used women from the Programa Vaso de Leche Glass of Milk Program, an association of women set up by Lima Town Council to channel the distribution of staple foods amongst the most underprivileged section of Lima’s society. In return, these women fill the public events as required.
