More about Geography of Ballast or the Wealth of Others

Installation made at the CCBB in Sao Paulo (Centro Cultural Del Banco de Brasil), for the exhibition: ‘Planos de Fuga’ curated by Jochen Volz and Rodrigo Moura. This place was one of the first banks in Brazil and it still preserves the Safe-deposite box, which is currently an exhibition space. It consists of a spiral corridor which leads to the interior of the safe-deposit box. The project works like a tour or journey through different moments related to the force of labour and construction. It looks like a random refurbishment with no sense, which ends up creating a sort of labyrinth feeling. All the objects and elements that one can see in the installation come from the process of construction and installing itself: the packagings (empty sacks of cement, etc), tools and clothes of the builders that have been left in the space.
